Josh Mayfield, Founding Partner, [Webinar Chair]

Mr. Mayfield began his career in commercial real estate focused primarily on CMBS servicing, and later, CMBS trading. After obtaining his Master of Science in Real Estate, Mr. Mayfield spent two years working through a portfolio of defaulted commercial real estate loans. Shortly after, he transitioned to a credit and risk management position where he took over responsibility for monitoring and reporting on the credit quality of a portfolio in excess of $5 billion while also working with senior leaders on various M&A and divestiture projects. In late 2007 he transitioned to the corporate lending unit where he began his tenure as a principal investor. His creation of an internal fund of funds business led to Mr. Mayfield deploying over $500 million in direct and secondary fund commitments as well as seeding an energy focused hedge fund.

The success of that initiative led to opportunities to create the energy lending group, the sports & entertainment unit, and the financial products group, where he led the buildout and initial growth of each unit. Direct loan origination experience across these initiatives was in excess of $300 million. Having held leadership positions during the financial crisis of 2008 as well as having spent considerable time in the real estate recession of 2001, Mr. Mayfield’s investment and portfolio management experience is well-rounded and shaped by lessons learned during both of those periods of disruption.

Mr. Mayfield has served in executive leadership positions for a number of non-profits, including serving as the President of the ORIX Foundation (five years) where he led a 40-person board and managed a multi-million-dollar annual budget. Mr. Mayfield is currently volunteering as a board member for On the Road Lending (a charity providing affordable loans, vehicle selection assistance, and financial mentoring to workers needing transportation assistance), the Men’s Advocacy Group for New Friends New Life (which provides support and assistance to formerly trafficked girls, and sexually exploited women and children), Boot Campaign (a non-profit that helps veterans and their families struggling with traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, self-medication and insomnia), and as an advisory board member for the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University.

Mr. Mayfield holds a BBA in Finance from Texas Tech University and a MS in Real Estate from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is also a graduate of the Stagen Leadership Academy’s Integral Leadership Program.
