Clifford Friedman, Chairman of Private Equity Committee at Northwell Health 

Clifford H. Friedman is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of ShareNett. Friedman has a history of 40 years of private equity, venture capital, investment management, financial, and various senior operational roles with a focus on media, communications, technology, and fintech. He has served on over 30 private and public corporate boards, raised capital, and supported strategic negotiations in the United States, the U.K., Italy, Spain, Japan, Sweden, Germany, France, Brazil, Mexico, and seven Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Friedman is particularly skilled in value creation through a systematic process of working with management teams, board members, and customers, creating and negotiating strategic partnerships globally to drive revenue and profitability that positions companies for successful liquidity events for all stakeholders.

From 2014 to 2020, Friedman was a managing director and member of the management committee of Raptor Group Holdings, a private investment company backed by the Family Office of Jim Pallotta, the former vice chairman of Tudor Investments. Prior to this role, Friedman was managing director and founding partner at Highbridge Principal Strategies, Constellation Growth Capital. Friedman also served as a senior vice president of Universal Studios, where he was responsible for the creation and development of the studio’s New Media Group. Before joining Universal Studios, Friedman served as vice president for strategic development at NBC, leveraging existing franchises to create new business opportunities. While at NBC, he helped form the joint venture between NBC and Microsoft (MSNBC) and formulated NBC’s Latin American strategy.

Currently, Friedman is the chairman of Huntington Hospital; director of the board of trustees and community advisory board of Northwell Health System; member of the System Investment Committee; and chairman of the Private Equity Committee. As chairman Friedman is responsible for allocating $300 million annually into various private equity funds and, more recently, direct co-investments, with AUM expected to cross over $1 billion within the next several years.

Friedman earned a B.S. in electrical engineering and computer science and an M.S. in electrophysics from NYU Tandon School of Engineering (Polytechnic University), and an MBA in finance and investments from Adelphi University. He has been awarded two patents in the field of communications and has been published in various international technical and financial journals. He is also a co-inventor of patent-pending systems and methods for trading, clearing, and settling securities transactions using blockchain technology. Additionally, he taught several undergraduate and graduate engineering classes as an adjunct professor at SUNY Stony Brook.

Ami Samuels, Partner

Ami is a Partner and plays a key role in transaction origination, execution, marketing and portfolio management. Prior to joining Gatewood, Ami was a Managing Director and Co-Head of the Private Equity Group at Poalim Capital Markets, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank Hapoalim, a leading financial institutional in Israel. Ami led investments and monitoring of the PE portfolio, and managed new business development activities. Ami was responsible for several investments in China, including a joint venture with a local advisory and investment firm based in Beijing and Hong Kong.

Prior to that, Ami was a Partner and Investment Manager at Star Ventures, an international venture capital firm, where he focused on fundraising and the communications sector. Prior to Star Ventures, Ami was a Co-Founder, CFO and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Satlynx SA of Luxembourg, a provider of satellite-based communications services, and Vice President at Gilat Satellite Networks.

Ami has 10 years of investment banking experience with Lehman Brothers in New York and Tel Aviv, where he worked on corporate finance and M&A transactions for U.S. and Israeli companies and for the Government of Israel.

Ami graduated from the Yale School of Management with a Masters in Public and Private Management, from the University of Haifa (in Israel) with a B.A. and participated in the University of Michigan’s Executive Management Program.

Sophia Mullen, Senior Managing Director at EnTrust Global

Sophia Mullen is President of EnTrust Global, Head of Co-Investment Research, and a member of the firm’s Management Committee, Global Investment Committee, and ESG Committee. Ms. Mullen joined the firm as a Vice President in September 2013, with an initial focus of overseeing the firm’s credit-oriented portfolios. As EnTrust continued to expand its co-investment program, she took on the responsibility of leading a team of analysts exclusively dedicated to such strategy, which targets a diverse range of opportunities across both credit and equity in public as well as private markets. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Mullen was a Senior Associate in the New York office of Sidley Austin LLP and a member of the firm’s Corporate Reorganization and Bankruptcy Group, where she focused on representing both debtors and creditors in a wide variety of matters. Ms. Mullen holds a BS from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a JD cum laude from the University of Notre Dame Law School.

John Madden co-founded Sequel Holdings and has served as its Managing Partner since its formation in 2002. He sits on the Investment Committee of all Sequel funds and on the board of directors, or as advisor to the board, of each of Sequel’s portfolio companies.

Prior to founding Sequel in 2002, Mr. Madden worked in various capacities at J.C. Bradford & Co., Bankers Trust Company, and Dean Foods Company (NYSE: DF) and its predecessors and affiliated companies (Kaminski Engles Capital Corporation, Reddy Ice Corporation, and Suiza Foods Corporation). While at Dean (and its affiliates), Mr. Madden held a variety of senior management positions including Vice President and Treasurer of Suiza Foods, Chief Financial Officer of Reddy Ice, and Vice President of Corporate Development of Suiza Foods and Dean Foods.

Mr. Madden was actively involved in the growth of Dean Foods from the company’s initial dairy acquisition in Puerto Rico in 1993 through its acquisition of legacy Dean Foods Company in 2001. He was instrumental in growing the Dean Foods portfolio from $50 million in sales at inception in 1990 to $9 billion in sales in 2002.

Mr. Madden received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Human Development from Vanderbilt University in 1988. He earned his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Dallas while working at Suiza Foods.

Mr. Madden is a member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas and serves on the MBA Advisory Board for the Gupta College of Business at the University of Dallas. Mr. Madden previously served on the Board of Lakeview Farms, WL Plastics, 21C Holdings, Homeowners of America Insurance Company, Critical Process Systems, J&J Produce Holdings, and Worth, Inc., was on the Alumni Board of Peabody College at Vanderbilt University, and was on the University of Dallas Foundation Board of Trustees. He was also a member of the Dean’s International Council for the Harris School of Public Policy at The University of Chicago, a partner of Dallas Social Venture Partners, a member of the Touchdown Club serving the Dallas Rise School, and chaired the March of Dime’s BWAC annual event.

Howard Gurvitch, is a New York City-based entrepreneur and private investor. He is the sole managing member of HRG, LLC, a privately-held “family office” investment management company he founded in 2006 that manages a diversified investment portfolio of direct investments, public and private securities, hedge funds, private equity, real estate and venture capital.

From 1987 through 2005, Gurvitch was a Managing Director at Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. He began in the Firm's Investment Banking Group working with middle market companies within a wide range of industries in connection with their M&A, strategic planning and equity and fixed income capital raising activities. As an investment consultant, and as the founding member of HG Consultants, he worked to identify, quantify and address the unique requirements of high net worth entrepreneurs as well as the owners, employees and financial fiduciaries of private and closely held businesses and organizations as well as numerous public companies. Prior to that, he was a Vice President of Ivan F. Boesky & Company, a private investment company. Jonathan Bross has 27 years of experience in private debt, film finance and film production. Kevin McCaffrey, Vice-President
